A Trip to Um Al Quwain

With the weather turning from the blistering summer heat to cool desert winters it’s the best time of the year to leave the city behind and explore the unknown.

Our plan was set to drive down to um al Quwain , one of the few places not explored yet by us. After a quick online search we settled on kite beach center in UAQ , which from the reviews and online articles seems like a really fun place for adult and kids alike.

But with 4 kids in tow it’s never simple. An easy start which was supposed to be a quick departure turned into a 30 min delay with me carrying the oldest to the car due to a silly misunderstanding and the twins joining in the protest that ensued once the car started with everyone calming down noticing the gradual change in the scenery.

A 50 minute drive out of town transported us to an idyllic laid back town which seems to belong to another era peaceful roads minus the hustle and bustle, sprawling villas made me reminisce back to how Dubai was in the 90’s. A beautiful town with so many sites to explore and something for everyone to do, it has an Amazing museum with artifacts from the nearby site of Al Dur.

Our agenda for the day was to get to the pristine beaches of UAQ unfortunately by the time we reached Kite Beach center was already at full capacity for the day. I would recommend an early start to anyone visiting as the place has all the amenities and very good facilities including water sports to keep the children and the older kid in us entertained with a restaurant and café on site it’s makes an easy beach outing without the additional luggage needed.

Unfortunately for us we arrived a bit too late and with a car full of bored kids tired of waiting to hit the water armed with all their toys and snacks. Luckily Um Al Quwain public beach was just a few mins away a quick drive and we had arrived with the girls dressed and ready to tackle the waves.

The beach in itself is gorgeous but fair warning there are not many amenities around and the nearest supermarket or bathroom is a few mins away by drive so the next best thing to do is to go to Mall of Um Al Quwain to use the facilities and stock up on necessaries and you can have a 4 hour break completely at peace with a mat, beach toys, snacks to keep the kids entertained. The beach was not too crowded and it was a wonderful picnic with the better half spending some quality time with his girls.

A couple of hours later after witnessing a brilliant sunset we headed back revitalized ready to tackle the week ahead.
